Health clubs, fitness and sport centres are looking for skilled and professional instructors to perform a range of roles supporting and motivating clients to get active, stay active and healthy, they may also be required to manage gym inductions, produce a variety of programmes and fitness initiatives to ensure the members and clients are training in a safe and effective manner.

The Certificate in Gym Instructing qualification requires 150 guided learning hours (GLH) which must include at least 24 hours of practical delivery.

REPS Philippines is a member of the International Confederation of the Register of Exercise Professionals (ICREPs). PD:Approval offers accreditation to training providers so that learners can benefit from training mapped to REPS Philippines standards which will allow learners who have passed your assessment to not only gain membership with REPS Philippines , and also professional recognition in the other ICREPs member countries.

PD:Approval has an accumulated 50 years experience in quality assurance, and uses industry expert evaluators, trainers and quality assurers to undertake reviews and observations.

PD:Approval will provide each successful learner with a secure Certificate of Achievement, that has a unique ID and a QR code for anti fraud purposes. Only certificates issued in this manner will be accepted by REPS Philippines for entry to the register and recognised by the other ICREPs member countries.

Certificate in Group Exercise (freestyle)


Gain accreditation with PD:Approval to offer learners a prestigious qualification that is recognised by REPS Philippines and welcomed by employers. Group Exercise Instructor (freestyle) focuses on the delivery of exercises to a group. Music may or may not be involved in the session; where music is involved clients may not be expected to work to the beat and phrase of the music and original choreography is not a requirement of this qualification.

The Certificate in Group Exercise (freestyle) qualification requires 150 guided learning hours (GLH) which must include 24 hours of practical delivery.

Pilates

Qualified Pilates Instructors possess the knowledge and skills necessary to support and motivate clients in achieving their goals, and have more impact on a client’s performance and achievements, tailoring programmes and workouts to need their specific needs.

The Certificate in Pilates Matwork (Core and Mat-based Pilates units) requires 275 guided learning hours (GLH) which must include at least 75 hours of practical delivery.

The Certificate in Pilates Comprehensive (Comprehensive units) requires 225 guided learning hours (GLH) which must include at least 75 hours of practical delivery(prerequisite required of a PD:Approval accredited Certificate in Mat-based Pilates).

The Diploma in Pilates Comprehensive (Core, Matwork and Comprehensive units) requires a total of 500 guided learning hours (GLH), which must include at least 150 hours of practical delivery.

The Diploma in Personal Training qualification incorporates additional units for Gym Instructor and requires 275 guided learning hours (GLH), which must include at least 54 hours of practical delivery.

Diploma in Special Populations

20 CPD points

The Diploma in Special Populations does not give entry to REPS Philippines but is open to all members and provides valuable CDP points. The Diploma in Special Populations is the mandatory prerequisite for members who wish to undertake other approved training in the Special Populations disciplines.

Gain accreditation with PD:Approval for this diploma in order to offer learners a qualification that is recognised by REPS Philippines and welcomed by employers. The prerequisite is a REPS Philippines entry qualification.

Health clubs, fitness and sport centres are looking for skilled and professional instructors to perform a range of roles supporting and motivating clients who fall into the following Special Population categories to get active in a safe and effective manner:

  • Pre and Postnatal
  • Older Adult
  • Disability
  • Youth

The Diploma in Special Populations qualification requires 300 Guided Learning Hours (GLH) which must include 225 hours Face-to-face Tuition Hours (FTH), 120 hours of which must be practical. The Diploma must map 100% to the REPS Philippines standards for each discipline.

PD:Approval offers accreditation to training providers so that learners can benefit from training mapped to REPS Philippines standards which will allow learners who have passed your assessment to add it to their existing membership of REPS Philippines

Foundation Training (CPD)

16 CPD points

Foundation Training can be developed by an employer in-house or by a private training provider and whilst it must map 100% to REPS Philippine standards to ensure an industry benchmark is met, you have the autonomy to add more contextualised content to the course and assessment – a huge benefit when developing your universal selling point to learners.

You have the choice of endorsing your Foundation Training individually, as a Foundation Training Pay as You Go (PAYG) endorsement, or through Foundation Training Unlimited endorsement which, once you are approved, would enable you to gain endorsement for all your other CPD (Assessed, Non-Assessed, Informal, Event as well as additional Foundation Training) without incurring further submission fees. Both options will provide you with continuing support from a dedicated External Quality Assurer.

Foundation Training endorsement is available as the following Special Populations foundation awards:

  • Award in Pre and Postnatal Exercise Instructing (PD:Approval learner manual available, see the Important Information section below)
  • Award in Older Adult Exercise Instructing
  • Award in Disability Exercise Instructing
  • Award in Youth Exercise Instructing

Non-Assessed Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

A non-assessed programme must have formative learning checks (for example, quizzes, scenarios, questions, group work) that are linked to the learning aims and outcomes. Non-assessed training programmes that are of a practical nature may be delivered online, however face to face delivery is encouraged. Guided Learning Hours (GLH) must be a minimum of 4 hours. All training content must be underpinned by current valid research and be evidenced based.

Please note: If you are applying for a Non-Assessed Unlimited endorsement, you must submit a programme that meets the Non-Assessed endorsement criteria.
