Gym Instructor

Gain accreditation with PD:Approval to offer learners a prestigious qualification that is recognised by the member countries of the International Confederation of Registers for Exercise Professionals (ICREPs) and welcomed by employers. Health clubs, fitness and sport centres across the world are looking for skilled and professional instructors to perform a range of roles supporting and motivating clients to get active, stay active and healthy, they may also be required to manage gym inductions, produce a variety of programmes and fitness initiatives to ensure the members and clients are training in a safe and effective manner.

ICREPs is an international partnership between registration bodies around the world that register exercise professionals. Their full members all operate independent, competency-based registration systems for exercise/fitness professionals. ICREPs members operate in ten countries across four continents, and collectively register almost 1/4 million individual exercise professionals. ICREPs is recognised by IHRSA (the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association) as the global body representing national registration bodies of exercise professionals.

The Certificate in Gym Instructing qualification requires 150 hours guided learning hours (GLH) which must include 24 hours of practical delivery.

PD:Approval offers accreditation to training providers so that learners can benefit from training mapped to the ICREPs Global Standards, which will allow those who have passed your assessment to gain professional recognition through register membership in ICREPs member countries.

The accreditation process, support, training, resources and all PD:Approval learner materials are provided in English.

Units covered in the Certificate in Gym Instructing

Your training will have either been developed by yourself and you own the intellectual property, or by PD:Approval who can provide the relevant qualification materials that have already been mapped, saving you time and supporting your accreditation. All resources MUST map 100% to the ICREPs Global Standards to ensure an industry benchmark is met.

Accreditation with PD:Approval gives you the autonomy to add more contextualised content to the qualification making it bespoke to the needs of your learners – a huge benefit when developing your unique selling point which makes you stand out in a competitive market. We believe the winning combination of industry recognised theory with the practical application promotes best practice and provides the necessary skills an employer will be looking for.

Private training providers can expect a robust approval process that is supportive and thorough. To show the industry that you have achieved accreditation, we will provide you with the ICREPs and PD:Approval logos and a Certificate of Authentication showing the details of your approval. Following Approval we will appoint a qualified External Quality Assurer (EQA) to support you to meet the highest standards whilst you remain accredited. PD:Approval has an accumulated 50 years experience in quality assurance, and uses industry expert evaluators, trainers and quality assurers to undertake reviews and observations, so you are in good hands.

We will provide each of successful learner with a secure Certificate of Achievement that has a unique ID and QR code for anti fraud purposes. Only certificates issued in this manner will be accepted by ICREPs member countries for entry to their registers.

Training providers seeking accreditation through PD:Approval to offer recognition by ICREPs must commit to PD:Approval’s terms and conditions for accredited providers as part of the application process.

Group Exercise Instructor (Freestyle)

Group Exercise Instructor focuses on the delivery of exercises to a group. Music may or may not be involved in the session; where music is involved clients may not be expected to work to the beat and phrase of the music and original choreography is not a requirement of this qualification.

The Diploma in Personal Training (includes Gym Instructing units) requires 275 guided learner hours (GLH), which must include at least 54 hours of practical delivery.

PD:Approval offers accreditation to training providers so that learners can benefit from training mapped to the ICREPs Global Standards, which will allow those who have passed your assessment to gain professional recognition in other ICREPs member countries.
